THAT WAS AN UNBELIEVABLE FINISH
The 2026 MLB Home Run hitting contest was so much fun and ended in dramatic fashion. I Hope you got to witness this fun event to start the Major League Baseball All Star festivities-- if not, here's what you missed. The annual MLB Home Run hitting contest had some changes this year with 8 hitters getting 20 swings in the first round and 15 in each of the final two rounds -- however a home run on your last swing each round would allow you another swing-- and after fourth year

3 Run Rally in 9th Sinks Nationals
Leading into the All-Star break, the New York Yankees, the Bronx Bombers came to Nationals Park for a 3 game series. The Yankees have been without Aaron Judge since May 31st and Giancarlo Stanton since April 24th. They’ve been through a rough stretch lately and have lost 11 of their last 14 games. But they’re still a formidable team and sit at 51-42 in the American League East, four games behind the Tampa Bay Rays. And now for game one… Ben Rice started things off for th

Nationals Back on Track…Defeat Astros 8-2
Going into tonight’s game, the Washington Nationals stood 3 ½ games out of a Wild Card slot. That might sound pretty decent until you realize there’s two teams ahead of us in that race to the playoffs. Let’s go, Nats… Foster Griffin, the ace of the pitching staff on the mound tonight for the home team . Good vibes… Washington started the scoring in the bottom of the 3rd after a couple of walks and a fly out left James Wood on third and Luis Garcia on first. CJ Abrams’ sac

Astros frustrate Nationals in 6-3 loss
The Washington Nationals started off their scoring in majestic fashion as All-Star James Wood homered to center field. His 25th of the season. We’re off to a grand beginning… Unfortunately, things quickly turned as the Astros tied it in the top of the 2nd after Christian Walker was hit by a pitch and later scored on a sac fly off the bat of Nick Allen. Game tied 1-1. Washington regained the lead in the bottom of the 3rd after James Wood walked and was sent to third base on

Washington Wins Wild One Over Astros 12-11
Miles Mikolas was able to start the game tonight for the Nationals even though he’s technically been suspended. His appeal hadn’t been answered as of game time. Cade Cavalli’s appeal did come through and his suspension was lowered from 7 games to 5, which is usually what happens. That means he won’t even miss a start. Doesn’t make much sense. What was the point of the suspension? Tonight’s attendance 11,092. Hold on…here we go! Top of the 1st, Isaac Paredes walked and Christi

Belgium sends USA Men packing 4-1
The goal of every Country competing in the FIFA World Cup football tournament is to win - And to do so you must not only play well but also have luck on your side. The USA Men, ranked 17th in the world, did not play well and although they had several opportunities --luck was not on their side very long. Belgium ( ranked ninth in the world) ended the USA Mens dream with a crushing 4-1 defeat. Belgium plays Spain (1-0 winner over Portugal) on Friday in the Round of Eight in Los

Nationals Looking Up…Sox Go Down 10-2
The Washington Nationals took the rubber game of their series with the Boston Red Sox in runaway fashion, scoring early and often to win it going away, 10-2. The Nationals scored two in the first. Curtis Mead, batting second, tripled to center field. He was followed by Andres Chaparros’ 1st home run of the season. The score stayed that way until the Nats broke things open in the top of the 4th. Nasim Nunez launched his 1st career home run to center field. A single by Drew M

Cavalli’s 13 K’s KO the Red Sox
Cade Cavalli is celebrating his best start ever: 7 innings of 1 hit ball with 13 strikeouts and 0 walks. However, his second strikeout victim of the night, Willson Contrerras, evidently didn’t appreciate something Cade said to him after the K and started walking toward the Nationals’ pitcher. A bench clearing near-brawl ensued leading to the ejections of Contreras, Boston’s interim manager Chad Tracy, Boston outfielder Nate Eaton, and Washington pitcher Miles Mikolas. Lucky f

Nationals Lose in Beantown
The Washington Nationals' two-game winning streak came to an end tonight with a 6-3 loss to the Red Sox in Boston. The game started with a bang for the visiting team as the National’s James Wood led off the top of the 1st with his 21st home run. That lead didn’t last long as the Red Sox tallied three in the bottom of the inning courtesy of a three-run homer by Willson Contreras (his 18th) after singles from Ceddanne Rafaela and Wilyer Abreu. Caleb Durbin added a solo shot l

Nationals end four game losing streak in extra innings
The Washington Nationals defeated the Baltimore Orioles in ten-innings, due partly to some half-way decent relief pitching and a throw from the infield cutting down a base runner at home that would have tied the game. The Nats opened the scoring in their half of the 2nd with Jorbit Vivas’s single driving in Daylen Lile who had doubled earlier in the inning. The Orioles tied it up in the bottom half of the 2nd courtesy of a single by Chadwick Tromp, scoring Blaze Alexander

A Tough Night in Baltimore

Washington fell a game under .500 and are now nine games behind the division leading Atlanta Braves. Trevor Rogers had a great start for the Birds, pitching into the seventh inning, giving up one run and allowing five hits. Rogers struck out seven and did not walk a batter. The game remained scoreless until the bottom

Today’s Nationals game was a perfect example of bad things happening in threes.
Tonight, for the third game in a row, the Washington Nationals jumped out to an early lead over the visiting Philadelphia Phillies. The real test was turning that early lead into a victory. Curtis Mead’s solo home run (14) in the bottom of the 1st started things off for the Nats. Daley Lile’s rbi single later in the inning knocked in Andres Chaparro who was on first after being plunked by a pitch and then sent to 3rd on Dylan Crews’ single. Crews then scored on Jacob Young’s

Luis Garcia hit his 13th homer in the bottom of the first, and Jorbit Vivas contributed his 3rd in the bottom of the second. 2-0 Washington. Phillies rally late to take game two from the Nationals
Tonight’s home crowd of 29, 611 was in for a wild time as the Philadelphia Phillies scored 11 runs in the last two innings to defeat our Washington Nationals 14-9. The game started out slowly with the only scoring through the first three innings coming from a rbi groundout by Washington’s Jacob Young in the bottom of the 2nd. But things sped up in a hurry. Foster Griffin’s Arm and James Wood’s Bat lead the Nats to Victory.
A ninety-two-minute weather delay tested the fortitude of the casual fan as he or she waited for the first pitch in tonight’s Philadelphia vs Washington baseball contest at Nationals Park. But commence it did, and the Nats wasted little time putting on their game-faces. As well they should. With the All-Star break coming up in a little under three weeks, and the Nats fighting to stay in contention for a Wild Card spot, this four-game series against the Phillies is indeed an i

Nationals Weekend Review
By Dave Carter – Contributing Writer – Capitol Times Media Rays begin ten-game homestand with 5-2 victory over our Washington Nationals. (6-19-26) The Washington Nationals looked good early Friday afternoon in Tampa thanks to C.J. Abrams’ solo home run in the top of the second, his 15th, and even better with Luis Garcia’s 10th dinger in the top of the third. By the way, Abrams currently sits third in the National League with 55 RBIs. Unfortunately, the rest of the game be
