Argentina has an opportunity to be the first team since Brazil accomplished the feat in 1962
to win Back to Back World Cup titles, after an impressive come from behind victory to
defeat England 2-1 and move onto the FIFA World Cup final. They take on a very good Spain
team on Sunday afternoon at 3pm EST for the FIFA World Cup Championship. England got
to the semifinal with wins over Dr Congo 2-1 Mexico 3-2 and Norway 2-1, and had defeated
Argentina in 12 of their last 14 matches. England was trying to get into the World Cup Final
for the first time since 1966. Argentina led by Super Star Lionel Messi got to the semifinal by
defeating Cape Verde 3-2 Egypt 3-2 and Switzerland 3-1. Messi scored in 9 of the last 10
World Cup matches he played in. The beginning of the game Argentina played extremely
aggressive and picked up several fouls.
England focused on Messi and used physical play to keep him from doing what he does
best –score or assist on goals --both strategies were successful in the First half.After a
scoreless first half, Argentina, ranked #1 in FIFA World Cup rankings, fell behind to England
(#4) early in the 2nd half when England’s Anthony Gordon found the back of the net 54:30
into the game.

winning all 6 of their previous semifinal matches. With just under 5 minutes remaining in
the game Enzo Fernandez electrified the 70,000 fans in Atlanta Stadium in Georgia kicking
a game tying goal off of a perfect pass from the Legend Lionel Messi.

1 minute and 30 seconds into extra time Argentina took the lead when Lionel Messi sent a
head high crossing pass in front of the England goal that Lautero Martinez Headed into the
back of the net and send Argentina back to the World Cup Final.
