Tonight, for the third game in a row, the Washington Nationals jumped out to an early lead over the visiting Philadelphia Phillies. The real test was turning that early lead into a victory. Once again, the Nationals’ relief pitchers couldn’t hold a late inning lead, giving up two runs in the top of the 9th leading to a 5-4 victory by the visiting Philadelphia Phillies. Tonight’s home crowd of 29, 611 was in for a wild time as the Philadelphia Phillies scored 11 runs in the last two innings to defeat our Washington Nationals 14-9. The game started out slowly with the only scoring through the first three innings coming from a rbi groundout by Washington’s Jacob Young in the bottom of the 2nd. But things sped up in a hurry.
