THE FIFTH CHECKS AND BALANCE

COMMANDERS LOSE IN LONDON
The Washington Commanders lost a bizarre game to the Indianapolis Colts in London 30- 13. The team statistics at the end of the game would lead you to believe this game was close; The Commanders out-gained the Colts 317 to 257 in total yards but had only 12 first downs (Colts had 17), both teams possessed the Football for approximately 30 minutes (1/2 the game each). Both place kickers were perfect on their attempts, Stephens 2-2 and Shrader 3-3 for the Colts. Early in the fi

WEEK 2 RESULTS IN THE NFL
Underdogs made their appearance in week 2 of the National Football League‼️ Seven visiting teams came away with victories and five of them were not expected to win. It took just 2 weeks for the madness to surface this season and I expect it to continue throughout the rest of this season. Heading into Week 3, eight teams have yet to win a game and eight teams have not lost a game. Five games this week feature those teams head on head; Texans (0-2) @ Colts (0-2) Chargers (0-2)

Relief Pitching and Timely Hitting Lead the Nationals to a Win over the Rockies
The Washington Nationals relied on some great relief pitching and timely hits to defeat the visiting Colorado Rockies 7 to 1. The two teams ended up splitting their four-game series. Washington starting pitcher Jake Irwin had a little trouble in the top of the 1st. He managed to walk the bases loaded, but the defense helped him out and the Rockies failed to score. The Nationals, however, did score a couple in the bottom of the inning. CJ Abrams and Dyland Crews started it off

COMMANDERS GROUNDED BY LIONS
In their first preseason game with the Dolphins, the Commanders controlled the line of scrimmage; that was not the case in their 17 - 13 loss to the Detroit Lions on Saturday August 22, in Detroit. The exhibition game could not have started any better for the Commanders. On the Lions’ initial series following the Kick off, Commanders Linebacker, Amik Robertson, forced a fumble when he came untouched on a blitz off the Left side and found a clear path to the Lions’ Quarterback

Nats Tie it, then Lose it, in the Ninth
Friday, August 21st After leading most of the game, then losing the late lead, the Washington Nationals used a clutch hit in the ninth off the bat of Daylen Lile to tie the game with the Marlins. Then Miami closed it out in the bottom of the inning. Another tough loss for the Nats, but that’s just the way it’s been these past few weeks. Both teams started off slow, as neither ballclub scored during the first five innings. Brad Lord, Wil Dion, and Orlando Ribalta combined to s

The Dolphins scored their only points in the game on their opening drive, as they marched down the field, aided by 2 penalties and a spectacular one handed catch by Wide Receiver Caleb Douglas, on a pass from newly acquired Quarterback Malik Willis, to score a touchdown and their only points of the game

THE RECIPE FOR A SUCCESSFUL SEASON IN THE NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE
There are very few professional sports that created an infrastructure which by it’s very nature allows a team to go worst to first in a single season. Last season the New England Patriots did just that by winning their Division and the American Football Conference before losing 29-13 in Super Bowl LX to the Seattle Seahawks. Since 2002 with the new format, (8 - four team Divisions) twenty-seven teams have risen from last place to win their Division the following year. You mig
