The Washington Commanders broke their six-game home losing streak, defeating the

defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks 33 to 31 behind an inspirational effort

by quarterback Marcus Marietta, who extended his personal winning streak over the

Seahawks to three wins without a loss

The Seahawks had won 12 consecutive games, including Super Bowl 60 last season, and

dominated the game statistically. They had an 86th percentile offensive success rate –and

89th percentile defensive success rate in the loss – the only game a team lost with this

success rate on both sides of the ball since 2022!!

So, had did the Commanders win?

touchdowns, tied the game early in the fourth quarter 24 -24.

Commanders PK Drew Stevens put them up by 3 points when the ‘Play of the Game’

occurred.

Commanders Inside Linebacker Kain Medrano, intercepted a Darnold pass at Midfield and

took it to the house for a Pick six to increase their lead AND for the second consecutive

week, the commanders got flagged for excessive celebration, forcing the point after try

from 50 yards which PK Stevens missed giving the Commanders a 9-point lead, 33 – 24 late

in the 4th quarter.

Last week in their two-point loss to the Eagles, Commanders WR Stefon Diggs got flagged

for excessive celebration after scoring a touchdown which led to a missed PAT-forcing them

to go for a 2-point conversion after a late touchdown, to send the game into overtime which

was unsuccessful and they lost.

With a Nine-point deficit and time running out, the Seahawks scored a touchdown and

extra point to cut the deficit to just 2 points 33 – 31, with just under 3 minutes that missed

extra point was looming large.

On their final possession, the Commanders had a critical 3rd down and needed a first down

to secure the victory.

QB Marcus Mariota willed the Commanders to victory after

scrambling out of the pocket on 3rd down and picking up a first down, ensuring the Commanders of their first win of the season and biggest upset in the NFL season to this

point.
