US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Monday that lawmakers will form an external and independent committee to review "facts and causes" related to the January 6 deadly attack on the US Capitol by supporters of President Donald Trump.
Nancy Pelosi said in a letter to lawmakers that the commission would build on a similar commission that was convened after the September 11, 2001 attacks on Washington and New York. Nancy Pelosi said the commission would also look at "the facts and causes of the readiness and response of the US Capitol Police and other federal, state and local law enforcement agencies in the National Capital District."
