The United Nations reports that 5 million Ukrainians have fled

Since the Russian invasion began on February 24, more than 5 million people have fled Ukraine.

A large majority of the 2.8 million refugees have fled to Poland but an unknown number have either stayed there or have moved on. There are few border checks within the EU.

UNHCR said on March 30 that 4 million people had fled Ukraine. The exodus was somewhat slower in recent weeks than at the beginning of the war.

The United Nations reports that in addition to the refugees, more than 7 million people have been displaced within Ukraine.
