Texas rejects Biden's request for help in testing for COVID-19 at the border

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has announced that he is rejecting a request from the Biden administration to help test illegal immigrants and possibly isolate them for CCP virus at the US-Mexico border.

The Republican governor said in a statement that border security is "a purely federal responsibility."

"The federal government is only responsible for screening, evaluating, and quarantining illegal immigrants who cross our borders and who may be infected with COVID," he said Thursday.

He added, "Instead of doing their job, the Biden administration suggested that they did not have sufficient resources, and surprisingly asked Texas to help them with their illegal immigration program." "Texas refused. We will not help a program that makes our country a magnet for illegal immigration."
