Pelosi says Ready to Deal on Smaller Coronavirus Relief Package ‘Because We Have a New President’

Nancy Pelosi said on Friday that Democrats will work with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on a smaller coronavirus relief package.
“What was then before was not more than this. This has simplicity. It’s what we’ve had in our bills,” Nancy Pelosi said, defending her position. “It’s for a shorter period of time but that’s ok now because we have a new president.”
For several months, Pelosi refused to negotiate anything beyond her $ 2.2 trillion bills of funding that included bailouts for the Democratic-led states. On Friday, she said the development of an effective vaccine and Biden's choice led to her decision to close a deal.
"With a Democratic president committed to a scientific solution to this, with the idea, we'll have a vaccine, it's a total change for them," she said.
Members of the House of Representatives also felt additional pressure after the disastrous employment report released Friday morning.
Pelosi said she hoped to add the coronavirus remnants package would be tacked on the end-of-year funding bill to keep the government open.
