'No one is in danger,' Pelosi says after blocking court security bill

A bill to increase security for Supreme Court justices was blocked by Democratic House leaders on June 9, claiming that more time was required to modify the legislation and that no one was at risk.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) refused to allow the legislation to be voted on after House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy asked for unanimous consent on the House floor to take the bill off her desk.

Deputy Marshals noticed Rosko when he was dropped off by a taxi outside Kavanaugh's home, according to court documents, after Attorney General Merrick Garland ordered around-the-clock protection at the homes of all nine Supreme Court justices in May.

“We’re working together on a bill which the Senate can approve of,” Pelosi said.

Pelosi told reporters at her weekly press conference a short time later that the justice system "is protected" and that proposed changes to the bill were being worked on, explaining why the bill was not allowed to pass in its current form.
