This week, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention of the U.S. revised its monkeypox travel alert website that recommended wearing masks while traveling.
The CDC said earlier this week to wear a mask when dealing with monkeypox. A cached version of the page claims that masks can protect you from many diseases, including monkeypox. This guidance was no longer available on Tuesday.
As stated by the spokesperson, the CDC continues to recommend masking for those who might be in contact with individuals who have been exposed to monkeypox, including household contacts and healthcare workers.
Early this week, the CDC raised the travel alert to "Level 2". Monkeypox, which is predominantly endemic to about a dozen countries in Africa, remains a low risk, according to the agency.
