Mens College Baseball World Series game 1

By Dave Carter – Contributing Writer – Capitol Times Media

MCWS game 1 – My Favorite Luke Combs song 'Ain't no love in Oklahoma' said it best --the Sooners are comin for ya Tar Heels and they did just that in game 1 of the Mens Division 1 College Baseball World Series on Saturday Both Oklahoma and North Carolina were undefeated in the tournament and both teams came out swinging -- In the top half of the first inning Sooners catcher Deitan Lachance clubbed a 2 run Home Run but that lead quickly vanished in the bottom of the inning when the Tar Heels scored three runs when second baseman Gavin Gallaher drove in 2 runs with a single and scored the go ahead run to give the boys in blue a 3 to 2 lead after 1 inning .

In the top of the 3rd inning the Sooners showed no love for the Boys in Blue when they erupted for 5 runs led by Deitan Lachance's 2nd Home Run and a clutch 2 out 2 RBI single by second baseman Kyle Branch and when the dust had settled the Sooners scored 5 runs in the inning and took a 7-3 lead and NEVER looked back.

Oklahoma starting Pitcher Freshman Cord Rager pitched 5 innings gave up 5 hits and 3 Run's to earn the victory in game 1 of the best of three World Series .

Final Score of game 1 Oklahoma Sooners -- 9 North Carolina Tar Heels -- 3 Game 2 -- Sunday, June 21 12:30 pm pst on ESPN Daves Dime -- The Tar Heels were 27-0 this season when scoring 2 or more runs in the first inning --they scored 3 runs in the first inning today AND LOST R U KIDDIN ME ---Oklahoma was unranked coming into the tournament and has 9 consecutive victories
