Hunter Biden Refuses to Apologize to First Lady Melania Trump After Making Salacious, Disputed Claims

Hunter Biden has flatly refused to retract or apologize for remarks about First Lady Melania Trump that her legal team says are “false, defamatory, disparaging, and inflammatory.” The controversy stems from Biden’s recent appearance on Channel 5 with Andrew Callaghan, where he repeated an unverified claim originating from Michael Wolff — a man Melania’s attorneys describe as a “serial fabulist.”

During the interview, Biden suggested convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein had introduced Melania to President Donald Trump. Attorneys for the First Lady immediately rejected the allegation as entirely baseless, demanding the video be removed and a public apology issued.

“These false, disparaging, defamatory, and inflammatory statements are extremely salacious and have been widely disseminated,” Melania’s attorney Alejandro Brito wrote in a formal letter to Biden’s legal team. According to Brito, the statements have been amplified by numerous media outlets and commentators, reaching tens of millions of viewers worldwide.

Rather than comply with the August 7 deadline to retract his remarks, Biden reportedly “leaked the letter” from Brito to a sympathetic journalist. When given the chance to apologize on-air, Biden responded, “That’s not gonna happen,” adding that he considered the $1 billion damages figure being sought to be an intimidation tactic.

Brito’s letter warned that failure to retract would leave the First Lady with “no choice but to pursue any legal rights and remedies available to her to recover the overwhelming financial and reputational harm” allegedly caused by Biden’s comments.

Significantly, even outlets and figures not aligned with President Trump have backed away from the claim. The Daily Beast has issued a retraction, and longtime Democrat strategist James Carville has also walked back the allegation.

For now, the First Lady’s legal team is preparing for what could become a high-profile defamation battle — one that underscores the increasingly toxic climate of political discourse in America, where public figures are forced to defend themselves against damaging, unverified accusations.
