A new package of security assistance worth approximately $820 million was announced by the Biden administration to Ukraine on July 1.

As part of the agreement, the Administration has given its authorization to withdraw security assistance worth up to $50 million and $770 million from the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative. In August 2021, the Pentagon began drawing down its inventory of weapons and equipment for the 14th time.

“We are going to support Ukraine as long as it takes,” Biden said, adding that the United States is giving Ukrainians “the capacity” so that “they can continue to resist the Russian aggression.”

During a news conference on Thursday in Madrid, President Joe Biden confirmed the latest $820 million aid package. The NATO summit focused on the Russia-Ukraine conflict was the third and final day of the summit.
