According to an Economist/YouGov poll, nearly three in four Americans believe the country's best years are behind us, while another survey found that a record number of Americans believe the country is entering a new economic era.

A recent Economist/YouGov poll found that only 22 percent of Americans think the economy is doing well or excellent, while 73 percent believe it is fair or poor.

People in a recent NBC poll indicated that there is more gloom in the country, with 74 percent believing it is headed in the wrong direction.

Chuck Todd, who anchors NBC's "Meet the Press," revealed the figures on Sunday's show, saying the figure has been over 70 percent for nearly a year, the longest run ever.
