Abortion ban blocked by Texas judge Statewide

Writer's picture: Capitol TimesCapitol Times

The Harris County Judge Christine Weems ordered the resumption of abortion services after the Supreme Court struck down the 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling, which argued women had a right to abortion. Texas abortions can temporarily resume following the Supreme Court's ruling last week after a judge blocked government officials from enforcing a law that passed nearly 100 years ago and is now back in effect after being blocked by a judge last week.

Currently, the order allows clinics to resume services in a state where abortion was already restricted under a new Texas law to only six weeks of pregnancy. The next hearing is set for July 12.
