Western Lviv hit by Russian missile; five injured

Officials said a Russian missile devastated rail lines in the western Lviv region, which provides Western weapons and other supplies.

The Russians struck the Beskidy railway tunnel in the Carpathian Mountains, according to Anton Gerashchenko, an adviser to the country's interior minister. There was an apparent effort to cut a key railway link and disrupt shipments of weapons and fuel.

A spokesman for Ukrainian railways, however, said that the railroad damage is still being assessed but the tunnel was spared.

Lviv region Gov. Maksym Kozytskyy said five people were wounded in the strike, adding that more information would be available Thursday.
