Unless it is 'essential' to stay, British nationals are told to leave Russia
It has been told that British citizens still in Russia should leave if it is not essential for them to stay. British citizens should flee the country through the remaining commercial routes, the Foreign Office updated its advice on Saturday.
According to the department, direct flights to the UK or countries in the EU might not be possible, but traveling through the Middle East or Turkey might be feasible.
Travelers outside of Russia had previously been advised not to visit the country.
Those moves suggest that the crisis in Ukraine is escalating, with sanctions affecting Russia as a result.
