US official reports that President Biden is planning to announce plans to send more military aid to Ukraine in the next few days to help the country fight back against the Russian invasion.
A similar amount to that announced by Biden last week is expected for the new package. Ukrainian forces fighting for control of the Donbas region of eastern Ukraine will receive much needed heavy artillery and ammunition from the package.
Biden will deliver a speech at the White House Thursday morning on how to build on the roughly $2.6 billion in military assistance already approved for Ukraine, according to the official, who was not authorized to speak publicly.
According to Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, the country will send additional heavy weapons, such as armored vehicles, to Ukraine.
Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau also said that his country would send heavy artillery to Ukraine earlier this week.
