Writer: Capitol TimesCapitol Times

Former President Donald Trump, his son Donald Trump Jr and members of his administration dominated Republican support for 2024, according to a poll published on Tuesday.

The Morning Consult / Politico poll shows that Trump has a 53% advantage over other potential candidates, even after the Democrats have not contested him for a second time. Vice President Mike Pence got 12 percent, Donald Trump Jr. got 6 percent, and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo got 2 percent.

In all, Trump, his son, and their political allies received 73 percent of Republican support, showing that the party still clearly favors Trump's agenda despite the president's loss to President Joe Biden in 2020.

Republican support for Trump fell 12 points after a January poll showed his support by 42 percent after the Capitol riots.
