Trump: “Democrat Chaos — Collaborate With ICE or America Bleeds”

WASHINGTON — In a blistering Sunday night address and series of Truth Social posts, President Donald J. Trump issued an ultimatum to Democrat governors and mayors: cooperate fully with federal immigration enforcement or watch America descend further into violent chaos — chaos that, in the administration’s view, has already cost two American lives.

In the wake of two recent deadly encounters between U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents and American citizens in Minneapolis, Trump directly blamed “sanctuary city” policies and obstruction by liberal state and local officials for creating “dangerous circumstances for EVERYONE involved.”

“These governors and mayors put illegal aliens above tax-paying, law-abiding Americans,” the president declared. “Their refusal to honor federal law enforcement not only invites criminal cartels and radical elements to our streets — it now ends with Americans dead.”

Trump’s message to Democrats was simple — and stark:

  • End sanctuary policies immediately or risk more cities becoming battlegrounds.

  • Turn over criminal illegal aliens held in local jails for federal deportation.

  • Stop encouraging protests and left-wing obstruction that hinder ICE operations.

“Let our ICE patriots do their job!” the president thundered — a rallying cry to law enforcement loyalists and voters alarmed by what they see as a breakdown of law and order.

The president’s comments come amid national outrage over the Minneapolis shooting of 37-year-old ICU nurse Alex Pretti, who was killed on Jan. 24 during a federal immigration enforcement operation. This marked the second fatal federal enforcement shooting in the city this month — prompting a fierce political clash between the White House and Democratic leaders.

Democrats in Minnesota, including Gov. Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, have been accused by the Trump administration of refusing to assist ICE and actively stoking disorder — charges Democrats vehemently deny.

Despite Democratic protests and an emerging national backlash, Trump is digging in — calling for Congress to outlaw sanctuary jurisdictions and insisting that only strong, coordinated federal action can restore peace and protect Americans.

Across the country, the debate has morphed into a larger election-year referendum on immigration and public safety:

  • GOP lawmakers and conservative commentators argue that liberal immigration policies sacrifice American lives for political correctness.

  • Democrats and civil liberties activists counter that aggressive federal enforcement risks civil liberties and fuels more unrest.

As Trump rallies his base around the mantra of law and order, the sanctuary debate has transformed into a defining flashpoint of 2026 — one that could shape control of Congress and the next presidential contest.
