After the Taliban conquered Afghanistan, the US military is taking full control of Kabul's international airport, as terrified Afghans scramble to leave the country's capital.

The airport has been seized, and US soldiers are taking over the airspace in order to evacuate American and allied personnel. Other nations, like Great Britain, which now has deployed soldiers to the operations, are also withdrawing individuals. Passenger flights, on the other hand, have generally been halted, leaving hundreds of foreigners and Afghans stranded.

After the Afghan government collapsed on Sunday, the Taliban declared a triumph. President Ashraf Ghani and his Vice President have left Afghanistan.

Kabul was the final big city in Afghanistan to resist a Taliban onslaught that began months ago but escalated in recent weeks as they took control of the country, shocking many analysts.
