Former President Donald Trump continues to have sway with the electorate. Mr. Trump has good news in a recent McLaughlin & Associates poll of 1,000 potential US supporters. If the presidential election in 2024 were conducted today, 49 percent of respondents said they would vote for Donald Trump, while 44 percent said they would vote for Vice President Joe Biden. If the competition were between Mr. Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris, Mr. Trump would get 51% of the vote, while Ms. Harris would get 40%. In a matchup with Trump's 2016 campaign competitor Hillary Clinton, the survey revealed that 51% would vote for Trump, while 41% would vote for Mrs. Clinton.

A sample of 468 potential Republican primary voters was also polled, and 70 percent of them said they "want to see Donald Trump win the presidency once more in 2024."

"Would you support or oppose Donald Trump for the Republican nomination if he campaigned for president once more in 2024?" the pollster questioned Republicans.

And the results were as follows: 81 percent said they would support the former president, 15% said they would oppose him, and 4% said they didn't know.

Mr. Trump received 53 percent of the vote, with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis receiving 13 percent. Former Vice President Mike Pence came in third with 9%, followed by former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley (4%) and Utah Senator Mitt Romney (3 percent )

Senator Marco Rubio of Florida and conservative writer and journalist Candace Owens both received 2% of the vote, while a half-dozen other contenders received 1%. Senators Tim Scott of South Carolina and Tom Cotton of Arkansas, Representative Liz Cheney of Wyoming, Governors Larry Hogan of Maryland and Greg Abbott of Texas, and former US Ambassador to the United Nations John R. Bolton are among those on the list.
