Ted Cruz: Obama Knew the Truth — And Lied to America to Stop Trump

On The Ingraham Angle Wednesday night, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) delivered a sobering warning to the American people: the Obama administration may have knowingly subverted democracy in its final days — and the evidence is now undeniable.

Cruz's remarks come after new intelligence records were declassified by the Director of National Intelligence, which point directly to former President Barack Obama as the man who ordered the now-infamous “Russia investigation” — despite internal assessments clearly showing no credible Russian interference in the 2016 election.

“I hope and pray that we see accountability,” Cruz told host Laura Ingraham. “What Tulsi Gabbard made public is explosive — not just that the Russia narrative was false, but that officials knew it was false when they said it.”

Cruz walked viewers through a stunning timeline of internal intelligence briefings and assessments — all showing that, up until December 8, 2016, Obama-era intelligence officials found no evidence that Russia had manipulated the vote or influenced the outcome.

  • August 31, 2016: DHS told DNI James Clapper there was “no indication” Russia intended to alter vote counts.

  • September 2: FBI officials were “uncomfortable” suggesting Russia was trying to disrupt the election.

  • September 9: The intelligence community assessed that Russia was “probably not trying to influence” the election using cyber means.

  • December 7: DNI Clapper’s own written talking points said foreign actors did not alter the election outcome.

Yet — as Cruz emphasized — just one day later, on December 9, the narrative suddenly flipped.

“December 9 should be a day that lives in infamy,” Cruz declared. “That was the day senior members of the Obama administration — Clapper, Susan Rice, John Kerry, and McCabe — reversed everything they had been saying.”

In just 24 hours, the official message changed from “no Russia interference” to “Russia elected Trump.” That new message was then broadcast to the media, used to launch investigations, and ultimately to undermine the presidency of Donald J. Trump before he ever took office.

In a resurfaced 2018 CNN interview played by Ingraham, former DNI James Clapper admits it was Obama himself who ordered the intelligence community to begin the Russia assessment that led to years of investigation, division, and distrust.

“If it weren’t for President Obama,” Clapper said, “we might not have done the intelligence community assessment… that led to Special Counsel Mueller’s investigation.”

Despite that, Obama — even now — continues to insist Russia interfered, directly contradicting his own intelligence community’s findings from December 8, 2016.

“Barack Obama is profoundly partisan,” Cruz said. “The people around him — hardcore radicals.”

Cruz pointed out that Obama’s CIA Director John Brennan once voted for Communist Party presidential nominee Gus Hall, proving the ideological extremism within the administration.

“Fast forward to Obama, and Brennan got his wish. These partisans were so contemptuous of the American people, they couldn’t accept that Donald Trump had been elected.”

For Cruz, the so-called “Russia hoax” wasn’t just an attack on President Trump. It was an attack on the American voter.

“Their goal was to stop the American people from reelecting Donald Trump,” Cruz said. “This contempt for voters is why they were willing to lie to Congress and lie to the American people.

Ingraham agreed, calling out Obama’s recent statements as dishonest in light of the evidence.

“Even Obama is still lying,” she said, referencing his latest claim that the intel assessments did show Russian interference — a claim flatly contradicted by the record.

Obama’s actions were not isolated — they were executed by a cadre of radical ideologues. From CIA Director John Brennan (a man who proudly voted for Communist Gus Hall) to Susan Rice and others, these operatives operated with one goal: to silence the voice of the American people through lies, fear, and lawfare.

This new evidence should not just alarm Republicans — it should terrify every American who values free elections and truth in government.

If the outgoing administration knew the truth and still pushed a false narrative — not to protect the nation, but to destroy a political opponent — then we are facing a crisis far deeper than politics. We are staring down a betrayal of trust at the highest level.

As Senator Cruz rightly said, “December 9th must be remembered as the day the truth died in Washington.”

We also call on Christians and patriots across this great nation to pray — fervently — for revival, justice, and clarity. This nation was founded on Biblical principles, and only through truth and repentance can we reclaim it.

This isn’t over. In fact, it’s just beginning. As we look toward the 2026 midterms, we must elect leaders who fear God more than globalist elites, who serve the Constitution more than their careers, and who will stand boldly for truth — even if the entire political machine stands against them.

Let December 9th be the wake-up call for a generation. The Deep State drew the first sword — now it’s time for patriots to stand, speak, and restore the Republic under God.

“Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.” — Ephesians 5:11
