Rep. Anna Paulina Luna Calls for DOJ Probe Into Fed Chair Jerome Powell Over Alleged Perjury in $2.5 Billion Building Scandal

Updated: Jul 22

Washington, D.C. — In a stunning move that strikes at the very heart of America’s financial elite, Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) has formally submitted a criminal referral

to U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi, calling for a Department of Justice investigation into Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell. The charge? Potential perjury and making false statements under oath — not over minor discrepancies, but regarding a $2.5 billion taxpayer-funded renovation project riddled with luxury excess and what appears to be outright deception.

At the center of the firestorm is Powell’s sworn testimony before the Senate Banking Committee on June 25, where he flatly denied that the lavish renovation of the Federal Reserve's Eccles Building included high-end features like a VIP dining room, marble finishes, decorative water features, and even a rooftop garden terrace. But according to official documentation submitted to the National Capital Planning Commission, those very luxury items are in fact part of the controversial project.

Rep. Luna’s office revealed that these documents contradict Powell’s sworn statements, raising the specter of perjury — a serious federal crime. “These are not minor misstatements,” Luna stated. “Chairman Powell knowingly misled both Congress and executive branch officials about the true nature of a taxpayer-funded project.”

This isn’t just about a few marble countertops or a fancy rooftop patio — the renovation’s cost has ballooned by an eye-popping $600 million. Powell claimed the building had “never had” a major renovation before, despite a significant overhaul conducted between 1999 and 2003. That’s not just misinformation — it's a pattern of deceit from one of the most powerful unelected officials in the country.

Rep. Luna is demanding answers — and accountability. She has urged the Department of Justice to investigate whether Powell’s statements cross the legal threshold for criminal prosecution, as perjury under oath is a federal offense. “The American people deserve transparency — not deception — especially when billions of dollars and institutional integrity are at stake,” Luna said in her official statement.

Let’s be clear: this is not some trivial political squabble. This is a matter of trust — or the betrayal of it — at the highest levels of the financial system. Jerome Powell is not just any bureaucrat. He is the head of the Federal Reserve — an institution with sweeping power over your money, interest rates, and the broader economy. If he’s willing to mislead Congress about marble and fountains, what else is being hidden behind the granite walls of the Eccles Building?

While the mainstream media remains largely silent, Luna’s bold referral marks a growing demand from the American people: We want truth. We want accountability. And we’re tired of being lied to by the elites who waste our money and expect no consequences.

It’s time for real oversight — and real consequences.

Stay tuned for more updates as this story develops. The establishment may want this swept under the rug, but we’re not letting it go.
