President Donald J. Trump has once again proven that America will never be played for a fool. On Saturday, Trump announced a 10% tariff increase on all Canadian imports after Canada was caught red-handed spreading fake propaganda using manipulated video and audio of former President Ronald Reagan.

The fraudulent ad — produced by the Ontario government and aired during the World Series — used doctored audio and video of President Reagan to make it appear as though the 40th President opposed tariffs. The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute immediately condemned the ad, confirming that Canada “created an ad campaign using selective audio and video” that “misrepresents the Presidential Radio Address.” The Foundation also noted that Canada never sought permission to use or edit Reagan’s words and is now “reviewing its legal options.”
President Trump, taking to Truth Social, blasted the Canadian government’s actions as a “FRAUD” aimed at manipulating American opinion and pressuring the U.S. Supreme Court. “The sole purpose of this FRAUD was Canada’s hope that the United States Supreme Court will come to their ‘rescue’ on tariffs that they have used for years to hurt the United States,” Trump declared.
Trump also reminded Americans that Ronald Reagan actually supported tariffs when used for national security and economic protection, countering the Canadian government’s false portrayal. “Ronald Reagan LOVED tariffs for purposes of National Security and the Economy, but Canada said he didn’t!” Trump wrote.
This scandal comes just one day after Trump terminated all trade talks with Canada, following the discovery of the misleading ad. “ALL TRADE NEGOTIATIONS WITH CANADA ARE HEREBY TERMINATED,” Trump wrote, calling the ad an attempt to “interfere with the decision of the U.S. Supreme Court, and other courts.”
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, who previously vowed to “fight Trump’s tariffs,” had recently softened his tone after facing mounting economic pressure. Earlier this month, his administration lifted tariffs on American and Chinese steel and aluminum, hoping to ease tensions. But this latest deception has shattered what little trust remained.
In his closing remarks, President Trump reaffirmed his America First stance:
“Because of their serious misrepresentation of the facts, and hostile act, I am increasing the Tariff on Canada by 10% over and above what they are paying now.”
Once again, President Trump has drawn a clear line — America will not be deceived, manipulated, or economically undermined by foreign governments. With Reagan’s legacy defended and American industry protected, the message is unmistakable: under Trump, America will never bow to globalist trickery again.
