Governor Tom Wolf said Pennsylvania lifted most of its remaining restrictions on COVID-19 on Monday, despite mandating the mask for unvaccinated people.

Wolf's office said it could fully take advantage of all companies, events, and venues again starting Monday.

"It's an exciting day in Pennsylvania: COVID-19 mitigation orders are now revoked," Wolf wrote in a tweet on May 31, adding that masking requirements would remain in effect until June 28 at the latest.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), approximately 54 percent of Pennsylvania residents ages 18 or older are vaccinated, while about 70 percent have received at least one dose.

The Midtown Scholar Bookstore in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, opened its doors to clients on Friday for the first time in nearly 14 months, although people still have to wear masks regardless of vaccination status.

The company has turned to online ordering, sidewalk sales, and virtual authorship events to survive the shutdowns.

About 50 percent of the U.S. population has now received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, according to the latest figures released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. About 40 percent of the population is fully vaccinated.
