In a stunning blow to New York’s Democrat machine, a new statewide survey by J.L. Partners reveals that Governor Kathy Hochul’s grip on power is slipping fast — and Republican firebrand Rep. Elise Stefanik is surging into striking distance. What was once considered an impossible battleground for conservatives is now a political earthquake rumbling beneath Albany’s entrenched establishment.
According to the November 9–10 poll, Hochul leads Stefanik by a fragile 46–43 percent — well within the 4.4% margin of error. In a state dominated by Democrats for decades, this is nothing short of historic. Eleven percent of voters remain undecided, but the overwhelming trend is unmistakable: New Yorkers are fed up with rising crime, suffocating taxes, and the radical left policies that have turned America’s largest city into a cautionary tale.
Hochul’s approval numbers are an indictment of her leadership. A staggering 54% of voters disapprove of her performance, with nearly 40% strongly disapproving. Even among Democrats, enthusiasm is collapsing. And among Republicans? A crushing 91% disapprove of Hochul — a testament to the frustration felt across the state.
This isn’t an isolated poll. An October 2025 Manhattan Institute survey showed Stefanik already edging out Hochul — and blowing past her lieutenant governor Antonio Delgado by six points. In deep-blue New York, numbers like these would have been unthinkable just a few years ago.
The message from voters is loud and clear: 55% say it’s “time for someone new.” Only 18% are committed to reelecting Hochul — a dangerously low number for an incumbent clinging to power.
Stefanik, meanwhile, is emerging as the conservative warrior New Yorkers have been waiting for. While 22% statewide still aren’t familiar with her, those who know her overwhelmingly approve of her leadership — and within the GOP base, she enjoys sky-high favorability, with 61% viewing her very favorably. Her campaign is laser-focused on restoring law and order, reversing New York’s economic decline, and ending Hochul’s radical policies that have driven families and businesses out of the state.
Backed by former Governor George Pataki, GOP Chairman Ed Cox, and more than 30 state lawmakers, Stefanik’s campaign has momentum the Democrats never saw coming. What began as a long-shot challenge is quickly turning into one of the most consequential races of 2026.
If these trends continue, New York — the crown jewel of Democratic power — may soon witness something the left fears most: a Republican renaissance led by Elise Stefanik, fueled by voters who have simply had enough.
The Empire State is waking up. And Hochul’s time may be running out.
