Minnesota Democrats Push Sweeping Gun Control Bill—Second Amendment Under Fire

A new battle over the Second Amendment is unfolding in Minnesota, where Democrat lawmakers are advancing SF 4067, a massive gun control package that conservatives warn could strip law-abiding Americans of their constitutional rights.

The bill—backed by Governor Tim Walz and members of the Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party—has drawn sharp criticism from the National Association for Gun Rights (NAGR), which is urging immediate public resistance.

What the Bill Would Do

According to reporting highlighted by Breitbart News Network and statements from gun rights advocates, SF 4067 includes:

  • A ban on commonly owned semi-automatic rifles

  • Restrictions on magazines over 17 rounds

  • Expansion of controversial red flag gun confiscation laws

  • A ban on privately manufactured firearms

  • Prohibition of binary triggers

NAGR President Dudley Brown described the effort as a calculated move to bundle multiple restrictions into “one giant gun grab.”

Gun rights advocates argue this is not about public safety—it’s about government overreach.

They warn that banning widely owned firearms targets responsible citizens while criminals remain unaffected. The expansion of red flag laws has also sparked outrage, with critics saying it threatens due process and allows firearms to be seized without proper legal protections.

The Minnesota Gun Owners Caucus has indicated the bill could pass the Senate, though the House remains divided—setting up a high-stakes legislative fight.

Minnesota is just the latest example of a broader push by Democrat-led states to chip away at the Second Amendment. What begins with restrictions, they argue, often leads to sweeping bans—and ultimately, the erosion of a fundamental American freedom.

Gun rights groups are calling on citizens to contact lawmakers and stop SF 4067 before it becomes law.

Because once a constitutional right is weakened, history shows it rarely comes back the same.
