Jim Banks: Trump First President Bold Enough to Call China America’s Enemy

A major statement out of Washington confirmed what millions of Americans have long believed—but what the political elite refused to say.

Speaking to Breitbart News, Senator Jim Banks declared that Donald Trump is “the first modern president bold enough to call China our enemy.”

At a policy event focused on the growing China threat, Banks emphasized that Trump was the first leader in decades to take Beijing seriously, warning early on that China posed the greatest danger to American jobs and economic strength.

Banks pointed to Trump’s 2016 campaign, where he directly spoke to American workers—especially in manufacturing states—about how China was undermining the U.S. economy. According to Banks, this message resonated deeply with working-class Americans who had never heard such blunt truth from Washington politicians before.

Unlike past Republican and Democrat administrations that treated China as a partner, Trump fundamentally reshaped U.S. policy. Banks noted that Trump rewrote the national security strategy to prioritize countering China, correcting years of policies that had strengthened Beijing’s global position.

The senator also highlighted that Trump’s second-term agenda is now focused on economic confrontation—using tariffs and trade policies to put American interests first and directly challenge China’s influence.

This moment signals a clear shift in American leadership. After decades of weakness and globalist compromise, the United States is no longer pretending China is a friend. Under Trump, the strategy is simple: confront the threat, defend American workers, and restore national strength.
