White House Press Secretary Jane Psaki told reporters on Tuesday that arms control was a "priority" for President Joe Biden.

She did not provide details of Biden's weapons plans, but indicated his support for smart weapon technology: "I would say that a president is a person who, throughout his career, advocated for smart weapons, and security measures for smart weapons."

She also noted that Biden is not afraid of the NRA: "He is not afraid to stand up to the NRA; he has done so many times."

Psaki said that arms control would require the introduction of specific legislation, which he said had not happened. In addition, he indicated that he did not know the likelihood of passing the legislation once it was introduced, as it would depend on Congress.
