Federal Judge's Ruling Against Patrick Byrne Smells of Two-Tiered Justice – But the Fight Isn't Over

Updated: 1 day ago

In a ruling that many view as a display of judicial favoritism and two-tiered "justice," a federal judge has handed Hunter Biden a $1.7 million windfall in a defamation suit against conservative patriot and former Overstock CEO Dr. Patrick Byrne. This isn't about genuine accountability – it's widely perceived as an attempt to silence one of the few voices exposing the Biden family's alleged web of international grift.

Byrne, a longtime truth-seeker on election integrity, Big Tech censorship, and Biden family dealings, faced claims over statements linking Hunter Biden to an alleged $800 million Iranian bribery scheme. U.S. District Judge Stephen Wilson in California awarded Hunter $1 in nominal damages plus $1.7 million in punitive damages, along with sanctions, citing Byrne’s alleged defiance and procedural issues after his legal team — including efforts involving attorney Peter Ticktin — was sidelined.

In a statement posted on social media following the judgment, Byrne wrote:

"The judge fired my lawyers including Peter Ticktin then defaulted me. Three recordings are under review by the government... I will win on appeal and HB will testify in court where a pardon won't shield him."

This reflects the resolve of a fighter challenging the system. The recordings under review and agents with claimed memory lapses fuel skepticism about the process — echoes of past controversies involving the Biden laptop and selective enforcement.

Patrick Byrne has long highlighted concerns about the Biden family’s foreign entanglements. Hunter’s use of civil courts against critics, following a presidential pardon on other charges, raises questions about accountability and free speech. The default judgment followed procedural disputes, which Byrne’s side attributes to unfair hurdles.

This case underscores debates over lawfare — the strategic use of litigation against political opponents — and the need for judicial reforms, including greater scrutiny of such suits.

Patrick Byrne remains a dedicated America First advocate. His efforts through initiatives like The America Project highlight his commitment to transparency. Supporters see this ruling as retaliation against those questioning official narratives.

Byrne has vowed to appeal. If recordings surface and testimony occurs without shield of pardon, further clarity could emerge. Americans deserve full transparency.

Hunter Biden’s award is seen by many as Pyrrhic. It highlights tensions over free speech and accountability. Patrick Byrne’s fight continues, and the public grows increasingly skeptical of institutional protections for the powerful.
