Despite health concerns about Putin, the Kremlin makes an announcement

In response to reports that Russian President Vladimir Putin's health is rapidly deteriorating amid rumors that he may have cancer, a top Kremlin official on Monday denied the claims.

Foreign Minister of Russia Sergei Lavrov responded to the reports by stating that Vladimir Putin appears publicly every day.

“You can see him on TV screens, read, and listen to his speeches. I don’t think that a sane person can suspect any signs of an illness or ailment in this man,” he added. “I’ll leave it on the conscience of those who disseminate such rumors despite daily opportunities for everyone to see how he and others look like.”

The Russian government also denied other rumors about Putin's health that were based primarily on uncorroborated sources without names. Russian leader Dmitry Peskov said he was fine at the time, a Kremlin spokesman said.
