Christopher Steele offered $1 million to prove Trump dossier allegations

A senior FBI analyst on Oct. 11 revealed the FBI offered Christopher Steele $1 million if he could prove his dossier's allegations against former President Donald Trump. In his testimony at the criminal trial of Igor Danchenko, a key source who assisted Democrats in compiling their anti-Trump dossier, FBI supervisory counterintelligence analyst Brian Auten made the claim.

The Trial is part of John Durham's criminal investigation into the 2016–2017 FBI investigation of the now discredited Trump–Russia collusion claim.

Upon conviction, Danchenko, a Russian national, faces up to 25 years in prison for making false statements to the FBI. No guilt has been pleaded by him.

During their meeting overseas in October 2021, Auten and Steele received the $1 million offer. They were trying to verify claims Steele made that Trump's campaign was colluding with Russia to win the election at the time of their meeting.
