China’s Desperate Plea to EU Signals Weakness in Face of Trump’s Tariffs

In a striking display of vulnerability, Chinese President Xi Jinping appealed to European Union leaders Friday, urging them to align with Beijing against what he called “unilateral bullying” from the United States. Meeting with Spain’s Socialist Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, Xi’s plea comes as President Donald Trump’s punitive tariffs continue to squeeze China’s economy, exposing cracks in the communist regime’s global influence.

According to China’s state-run Xinhua news agency, Xi framed the issue as a moral imperative, claiming that cooperation between the EU and China is essential to “safeguard international fairness and justice.” But behind the lofty rhetoric lies a stark reality: China is reeling from America’s bold trade policies, which have disrupted Beijing’s economic dominance and forced Xi to seek allies in an increasingly skeptical Europe.

For Bible-believing American, this moment underscores the strength of principled leadership. President Trump’s tariffs reflect a commitment to protecting American workers and industries from China’s unfair trade practices—practices that have long exploited global markets while bolstering a regime hostile to religious freedom and human rights. Scripture reminds us in Proverbs 16:12 that “it is an abomination for kings to do evil, for the throne is established by righteousness.” Trump’s resolve stands in stark contrast to Xi’s authoritarian grip, which suppresses Christians and other religious minorities within China’s borders.

Spain’s Sanchez, a socialist whose policies often clash with conservative values, acknowledged the EU’s massive trade deficit with China—45 billion euros in imports compared to just 7.4 billion in exports. Yet, rather than confront Beijing’s economic aggression, Sanchez called for deeper cooperation, seemingly blind to the spiritual and moral implications of aligning with a regime that persecutes believers and defies God-given liberties.

This news should embolden Americans to pray for discernment among world leaders. As Psalm 33:12 declares, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.” America’s stance against China’s overreach reflects a defense of sovereignty and fairness, while Xi’s overtures to Europe reveal a nation scrambling to maintain its faltering grip on power. Conservatives must continue to support policies that prioritize faith, family, and freedom over appeasement of godless regimes.

As the trade war intensifies, let us stand firm in our convictions, trusting that righteousness will prevail against those who oppose the values that built this nation under God.
