Since the start of the Ukraine war, an independent research group said Monday that China has become the biggest buyer of Russian energy exports.
Research conducted by the Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air found that Russia has received revenue from the sale of oil, natural gas, and coal since the invasion of Ukraine on Feb. 24.
China, which has bought energy worth some 12.6 billion euros from Moscow, is now Germany's largest importer of Russian fossil fuels, down from the top spot during the first two months of the war.
According to the Helsinki-based group, 61% of fossil fuels worth 57 billion euros were exported to the EU during the conflict's first 100 days.
That included 12.1 billion euros worth of exports to Germany, 7.8 billion euros each to Italy and the Netherlands, and 4.4 billion euros to Poland, the group said.
