California wildfire zone: 2 bodies found in burned vehicle

In a California wildfire zone, officials discovered two bodies inside a charred vehicle in a driveway amid hot, dry, and gusty conditions that increase the chances of those fires spreading, according to authorities.

Firefighting officials in Northern California reported Sunday that the McKinney Fire, which erupted Friday in the Klamath National Forest, had grown to more than 82 square miles (212 square kilometers). Officials have not determined the cause of the largest wildfire in California this year.

It was discovered Sunday morning in the driveway of a home near the remote Klamath River community, the Siskiyou County Sheriff's Office said.

In Yreka, about four miles (6.4 kilometers) away, firefighters were fighting the fire on the ground and preventing it from spreading further.

The tiny California community of Seiad was threatened by a second, smaller fire that was sparked by dry lightning Saturday. Officials said the two fires threatened approximately 400 structures.
