Biden under fire in mainstream media for polarizing speech

A polarizing speech delivered by President Biden in the presence of two U.S. Marines was criticized by corporate news reporters on Thursday night.

Tens of millions of people who voted for former President Donald Trump were attacked during the president's speech.

“Whatever you think of this speech the military is supposed to be apolitical,” CNN host Brianna Keilar, whose husband serves in U.S. Army, wrote on Twitter. “Positioning Marines in uniform behind President Biden for a political speech flies in the face of that. It’s wrong when Democrats do it. It’s wrong when Republicans do it.”

In a recent article, CNN's Chief National Affairs Correspondent Jeff Zeleny wrote, "While delivering a political speech isn't unusual or wrong — it's inherent in the job description — it's a break from White House traditions when it's done amid the salutes of two Marines and the Marine Band."

In a statement on Thursday, the White House said Biden's speech would be optimistic and nonpolitical. According to him, MAGA Republicans and Trump are threats to democracy, so voters should unite against them.
