Five U.S. officials and airlines told Reuters the White House is considering lifting the entry ban for most non-US citizens who have visited Brazil, Britain, Ireland, and 26 other European countries.

The Trump administration imposed the ban in an effort to contain the novel coronavirus epidemic. Officials said it is not considering lifting a separate entry ban for most non-US citizens who have visited China or Iran recently.

People briefed on the matter said the plan was endorsed by members of the White House Coronavirus Task Force, public health, and other federal agencies, but President Donald Trump has not made a final decision and the timing remains uncertain.
