A powerful long-range weapon system, the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System, was received by Ukraine on Thursday from the United States. Kyiv hopes the system can help turn the tide against Russia's invasion.
Ukraine fears some of its troops may be encircled in a Russian pincer as Moscow's forces advance into Ukraine's east in a bid to capture the industrial heartland known as the Donbass.
“Thank you to my U.S. colleague and friend Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin for these powerful tools! Summer will be hot for Russian occupiers. And the last one for some of them,” Ukrainian Defence Minister Oleksii Reznikov said on Twitter of the HIMARS delivery.
