President Donald J. Trump delivered a thunderous warning to the communist regime in Havana on Sunday, declaring that Cuba’s decades-long lifeline of oil and cash is over. In a Truth Social post that sent shockwaves through Latin America, Trump announced that Cuba is being cut off from the resources it once received from Venezuela—and urged the regime to make a deal “before it is too late.”
“Cuba lived, for many years, on large amounts of OIL and MONEY from Venezuela,” Trump wrote. “In return, Cuba provided ‘Security Services’ for the last two Venezuelan dictators, BUT NOT ANYMORE!”
Trump made clear that the era of communist extortion in the Western Hemisphere is finished. With Venezuela now under the protective umbrella of the United States, the Marxist machine in Havana has lost its leverage.
“Venezuela now has the United States of America, the most powerful military in the World (by far!), to protect them, and protect them we will,” Trump declared. “THERE WILL BE NO MORE OIL OR MONEY GOING TO CUBA – ZERO! I strongly suggest they make a deal, BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE.”
The announcement follows decisive U.S. action against illicit oil trafficking. A U.S. official told The New York Times that a tanker was seized due to its past involvement in smuggling Iranian oil. A federal judge authorized the seizure, signaling that America is serious about dismantling the shadow networks that prop up hostile regimes.
This strategy is no surprise. In his 2011 book Time to Get Tough, Trump argued that America should use energy power to liberate nations from tyranny. That doctrine is now policy. After the capture of former Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro, Trump revealed that Venezuela will turn over 30–50 million barrels of high-quality sanctioned oil to the United States—oil that will be sold at market price and used to benefit both Venezuelans and Americans.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio recently underscored the moment, saying Cuban leaders are “in a lot of trouble.”
The message is unmistakable: communism will no longer be subsidized in America’s hemisphere. Under President Trump, the United States is using strength, leverage, and moral clarity to dismantle tyranny—one regime at a time.
