The US allots $14 billion to expand ports and shore up the waterways

The Biden government said on Wednesday that it will invest $14 billion in initiatives to modernize the country's ports and waterways in order to boost climate resilience, improve drinking water supplies, and strengthen the United States' supply chain.

The funding, which will be available in the fiscal year 2022, will support more than 500 programs in 52 states and territories, including the Everglades in Florida and the Port of Long Beach in California, according to the White House.

"These critical programs will improve the country's supply chain, produce major new sources of revenue across the country, and reinforce our global warming defenses," it stated.
