The Russians create lists of 'Ukrainians to be killed after a military occupation'

Russian authorities are preparing a list of Ukrainians to be "killed or sent to camps" in case of an invasion, United States ambassador to the UN, Bathsheba Nell Crocker, declared.

Crocker made the assertions in a letter to the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet, the U.S. representative to the Office of the United Nations and Other International Organizations in Geneva.

According to Crocker, we are deeply concerned about the continued abuses of human rights by Russia in the parts of Ukraine it is already occupying, and we believe that those concerns will only increase following the launch of a new military offensive.

The United States obtained information that "indicates human rights abuses will be committed following a second invasion," according to Crocker.

The information Crocker cited indicates Russian forces are creating lists of identified Ukrainians who are to be killed or sent to camps following a military occupation. According to credible information, Russian forces will likely use lethal measures to suppress peaceful protests or otherwise suppress civilian resistance in a peaceful manner.

According to Crocker, such human rights violations and abuses would likely target "individuals opposed to Russian actions, including Russian and Belarusian dissidents in exile in Ukraine, journalists and anti-corruption activists, as well as vulnerable populations like religious and ethnic minorities and LGBTQ+ people."

The ambassador said the matter was raised at a U.N. Security Council meeting on Feb. 17 by Secretary of State Antony Blinken. During a discussion at the U.N. Human Rights Council on Dec. 15, Crocker said, the United States voiced concerns about Russian President Vladimir Putin's plans.
