Democratic and Republican candidates are running for top political spots in the state’s primaries Tuesday. Embargoed Attorney General Ken Paxton will face three primary opponents for a third term and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott are facing several GOP rivals.

As with congressional races across the state, the North Texas race to replace retiring Democrat Eddie Bernice Johnson in Dallas is also critical. State Rep. Jasmine Crockett of Dallas is one of nine candidates to represent that district. Additionally, the Collin County Republican primary is feature a significant challenge to incumbent Van Taylor.

In the GOP's primary for governor, Abbott has failed to reach out to his seven Republican opponents and has poured all of his energy into former Congressman Beto O'Rourke, who is widely expected to win the party's nomination.

In Texas, Abbott, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, Sid Miller and others who seem to be cruising to victory have received the Former President Trump Endorsements. Apart from 16 incumbents in Congress, he has played it safe with a few exceptions.
