'Super-sized IRS' proposed GOP bill blocks targeting middle-class residents

Republicans introduced a bill on Sept. 11 aimed at curbing the IRS's growing power.

Inflation Reduction Act, which was signed into law in August, allocated $80 billion in additional funding to the Internal Revenue Service. The new bill attempts to address the fear that the IRS will use its power to harass middle-class Americans with the new surplus in funding.

According to the bill, the IRS should not be auditing Americans making less than $400,000 with the additional funds provided by the Inflation Reduction Act.
