State rights under attack by energy bill, Texas coalition says

A coalition of 17 state attorneys general is warning the Biden administration is "running roughshod over state rights" by pushing a "radically impractical energy agenda" through the U.S. Senate.

As a result, according to the White House, this legislation will enable the country's power grid to accommodate "clean energy."

In a letter to Schumer and McConnell on Monday, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton said the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2022 is effectively a backdoor to the failed Clean Power Plan of the Obama administration.

The letter claims that the bill contains three interrelated provisions that, when combined, undermine states' land-use and energy policy autonomy.

As stated by Paxton's office, this would allow the Biden administration to trample upon states' rights and force taxpayers to pay for a radically unworkable energy agenda.
