SPAIN WINS FIFA WORLD CUP

Defense wins Championships‼️ It’s been said and proven many times before and it was certainly

evident on Sunday in the New York New Jersey stadium as Spain shut out Argentina 1-0 to win

it’s second FIFA World Cup Title since 2010.

Spain’s Defense was invincible in this game and throughout the tournament, not allowing

Argentina to attempt a single kick on goal in the entire game which includes regulation (90+

minutes) and 30 minutes of extra time added when the game was scoreless after regulation.

The only goal of the game came 39 seconds into the final 15 minutes of extra time when Ferran

Torres received a pass directly in front of Argentina Goalkeeper Emilio Martinez and found the

back of the net igniting a championship celebration.

Argentina Goalkeeper Emilio Martinez had an historical game with 11 consecutive saves and

kept the nation’s hope for Back to Back World Cup Championships alive before giving up a short

handed goal in extra time.

Argentina played the entire 30 minute extra time with just 10 players on the field because Enzo

Fernandez received a Red card at the end of regulation.

Spain finished with 12 kicks on goal and possessed the ball 60% of the time, Argentina had 0

shots on goal and had the ball for 40% of the time in the Championship contest

FINAL SCORE SPAIN – 1 ARGENTINA - 0

Dave’s Dime

Spain became the first team in a FIFA World Cup final to start 2 teenagers . They allowed just 1

goal in the entire tournament (8-0) and never trailed in any of their 8 games. They have not lost

in 38 games over the past 2 years winning the 2024 UEFA European Championship and now

the FIFA World Cup.

Argentinian Great Lionel Messi was just the 2nd player to appear in 3 FIFA World Cup Finals and

is the all time assist leader in FIFA World Cup history with 65. This may have been the last game

of an historic career.

He is a legend and was fun to watch‼
