Shelling by Russian forces increases in Ukraine's east

During the past three months, Russian forces have intensified their shelling in the east of Ukraine, which has become a focal point of the conflict.
Since Russian forces finally seized Mariupol last week, Ukraine has been defending itself against Moscow's assaults on eastern cities.
The president of the United States and the Japanese prime minister condemned the invasion of Ukraine in Tokyo on Monday. Biden signed legislation earlier on his trip to Asia that provided $40 billion more in U.S. support to the Ukraine in defense against the Russian attack.
Russian forces tried to storm Sievierodonetsk, but were unsuccessful and retreated, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s office said.
