The Tampa Bay-area Congressional District 13 election saw former President Donald Trump endorse Air Force veteran Anna Paulina Luna beat two competitors to win the party's nomination. In Florida's primary on Aug. 23, Cory Mills defeated seven rivals in the Republican primary in suburban Orlando-area CD 7, which was won by a Trump-appointed DoD adviser.

Reapportionment following the 2020 Census added a 28th congressional district to Florida. According to some analysts, the Legislature's Republican majority could increase from 16-11 to 20-8 under the new districts adopted by Gov. Ron DeSantis' Republican-led Legislature, pushed by DeSantis.

Among those endorsing Sabatini are Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga. ), Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla. ), and Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.). Despite attracting a large amount of campaign expenditures from opponents, Sabatini raised over $1.2 million.
