A decree signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday imposes visa restrictions on countries taking "unfriendly actions" against the Kremlin recently.
In a statement released by state-run media, the decree was issued as a response to the European Union's hostile actions. Putin also signed the order, as was shown in pictures published by state news outlets.
A list of unfriendly countries compiled by the Russian government last month included the United States, Canada, Britain, EU states, and Ukraine.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said last month that the decree was made “in connection with the unfriendly actions of a number of foreign states,” adding, “This act will introduce a number of restrictions on entry to the territory of Russia.”
